Nerf Gun Solution

As a mother of 2 boys, I have found our house overcome by Nerf guns and the bullets...EVERYWHERE. It seems that these toys also have a propensity to multiply, rabbits have nothing on Nerf bullets. Every birthday and gift-giving holiday includes some Nerf weapon of choice and more bullets. Now, don't get me wrong, I love these toys. They give the kids HOURS of play-time entertainment. Great toy for the 12 year olds that are too-cool-for-school, to the 7 year old who wants to hang out with the older guys, to the Dad reliving his youth. All of their friends have them and whenever the kids get together it is Nerf war time. I just hate storing them. Last idea was to put all the guns in a gigantic bucket, yeah not so much. Then a light bulb went on and my handy hubby implemented my idea:

Both sons love this! And it encourages them to pick up after themselves. The bucket now holds all of the soft orange bullets. Now if they only made a pink sparkly glitter Nerf gun for me......

Homecoming is next weekend in Pullman and I wanted to "bring it", so I made my version of the Subway art we've been seeing everywhere in blogland. I had the canvas that I got at the thrift store and the paint. I used my cricut to cut the letters out of freezer paper and ironed it onto the canvas. For my first attempt I like it and it being crooked just adds to the charm (at least that's what I am telling myself). Don't know what happened to the G on the bottom but oh well. LOVE IT! I think if I were to do this again I would paint the canvas, cut the letters out of construction paper and modge podge them on. I think I am going to stamp on the Cougar emblem in white either in the top corners or centered on either side of Cougars and Wazzu.

Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure

Well I have to say this is the best year yet: no blisters and toenails intact. What an amazing adventure with my mom and niece. Here are a few pics from the walk:

These fellas played the best music and were the best "tit" crew for their walkers. They followed very slowly along the route with their team playing their favorite hairband songs. I was so impressed with them.

Does anyone still come here to read?

Quick update, DH ended up with 5 job offers and on August 31 started with the company he wanted the most. Unfortunately the job he is on is in Olympia, which means a 2 hour commute each way. BUT it's a J-O-B, and he is happy with his choice.

Because he knew he would be starting at the beginning of September DH suggested we take a trip as a family because it would be awhile before he could take the time. So off to Disney World we went. It was crazy fitting it in right before school but it was alot of fun and this time we had a whole week to enjoy the parks.

Both boys have started right into school loving their teachers. This year I get to drive them every day. Who knew that the drop off/pick up line would be so complicated. I started griping about this new task of mine but have decided it really has given me some great bonding time with the boys.

In less than 5 days I will be walking the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure for the 4th time. The best thing about the walk this time is I am doing it with my mom. I canot put into words how amazed and proud I am of her. Less than a year ago she could barely walk across a parking lot, last week she walked 18 miles. We have grown even closer during this adventure and have discovered some wonderful areas along the way. I am excited to walk this coming weekend with her. Just pray for dry weather.

Thank you everyone for the nice comments on here and Facebook. We did ok at the event. We raised $325 on Saturday, that and a generous donation brought the whole team to their individual goals. We were also able to donate to a couple of the Walking Warriors. We met some great people and got to visit a the lovely community of Proctor. A good day!

Now I am getting ready to go to Barnhouse Flea Market on the Come Junk with Us bus. Not much time for shopping, as this time Timi is putting me to work. But I am still excited about this trip even if we are leaving at 5:30 AM! I mean seriously look at who is going to be there:

I am still here. I had a WONDERFUL time on the Come Junk With Us tour to Farm Chicks! Found some fabulous treasures, laughed hard many times and made 30 new BFF's. I will take pictures of my goodies as soon as this weekend is over. Busy with the end of baseball and getting a picture compilation made with music for the party on Sunday. BB1 was also inundated with 3 huge projects and a test at school. And of course Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Just plugging along here in WSU Land. We've been exceptionally busy with baseball and Cub Scouts. Thank goodness play-offs are just around the corner and the last Cub Scout meeting was on Tuesday. The boys have the next 4 days off and we have made NO PLANS. In fact, today we are enjoying hanging out at home in our PJs doing nothing but watching movies and playing video games. I am happy it is pouring rain outside so I don't feel guilty about not walking.

Bad News or Good News . . .

Well, it is official, DH is getting laid off at the end of the month. We knew this was coming and have been trying to be prudent in saving money and getting stuff done while he still has a job. Hello: braces, fixing/updating duplexes, getting said duplexes rented, sending out resumes, car sold, etc. etc. He has been waiting anxiously the last 3 months for this to happen, so we are relieved it finally is here. But it is still nerve wracking. I just applied for my business license and was looking into launching my own business, "Old School Chic" to get ready for Crafts 4 a Cure in July to raise money for the 3-Day Walk and possibly opening a booth at an antique mall. Some of those plans are just going to have to be put on hold. Still doing the sale because I signed up for the walk already, I have a little over half the money raised, and we are donating all of our sales to Walkers for Knockers. I have completed or in progress of some of my crafts I plan to sell, just can't buy anymore supplies, make due with what I have.

I am approaching this as a cup half full opportunity. It will all work out and maybe it will give DH some time to spend at home with us and getting some of the honey-do list tackled.

Blogworthy???

Well hello, how are you? Has it really been 2 weeks since I posted something? Time does fly when you are having fun and being fake busy. I was recently catching up on some of my favorite blogs (see sidebar) and read on More or Less Me about where everyone has gone in Blogland. I am totally guilty of slacking off on this blog this year since I became such good friends with Facebook. Not going to lie, I enjoy the instant gratification of seeing everything at once, and, well, . . . the games. My name is WSULaura and I am still addicted to Bejeweled Blitz, and now Collapse and Family Feud. But I have been trying to keep up with my favorite bloggers and leave comments. I just have been feeling blah about writing, and when I kind of get excited about posting I stop myself because I really don't feel like it is "blogworthy".

But I am done doing that, no matter how boring, I am going to write about my day. Because this is why I started my blog, to capture my day to day life in a kind of diary so I wouldn't forget. SO tomorrow I will start this new goal with another entry about what I have been up to...stay tuned.

This was last year's show. They were so gracious to sign my cookbook and pose in a picture with me. Now it is just Serena, and she too has a great show in the works. I am so excited to take the Junk Junket over to Spokane. Less than a month away and this mama can hardly wait!

Went to see this today with the boys, my godson, and his mom. Great movie! Guess who actually teared up, not once, but TWICE! Darn hormones are killing me. So those of you who cry at Hallmark commercials (like me), may I recommend taking tissue with you when you see this. Wish I had then maybe I could have wiped my eyes on the down low. My boys mercilessly teased me all the way home and then told their Dad who continued. TRAITORS!!!

A Little R and R

We just got back from camping this last weekend, which was an adventure in itself because the night we pulled in was a big wind storm and lots of rain, but it was still nice to get away. We went to Pacific Beach and stayed here, which was just lovely. Even though on Saturday the electricity went out for about 5 hours, luckily, Timi and I were in Ocean Shores shopping. Sunday we had brunch at the Windjammer after the Easter Bunny visited.

I was also lucky enough to meet up in person with another blogging buddy, Lisa from Coastal Nest. She and her husband are the sweetest people and let me tell you about their Beach Cottage, to die for!!! She has a shop in Aberdeen called The Grand Heron and has recently partnered with her friend, Melanie to open One Wacky Woman in Ocean Shores. The Grand Heron was closed when we stopped by, but I was able to peruse One Wacky Woman and found some cute stuff. Loved the store and it is in the same building as Going Coastal (another shopping favorite). Didn't make it to East Coast Connection this time, but if you get a chance, go visit.

The rest of this week we've been at home doing nothing but watching movies and hanging out. It's been so nice to sleep in and not rush anywhere, which is easy to do when it is a nice, moist misty gray outside, I don't feel guilty about staying indoors.

This weekend I am off to Lake Chelan for winetasting with the girls for a 40th Birthday celebration. Looking forward to a fun weekend before we go back to the craziness of school, baseball, tae kwon do, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Crossover

Last night BB1 received his Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts and "crossed over" to being a Boy Scout. They also got their new Boy Scout neckerchiefs and arrows. I am just so very proud of him. Each of the boys got their mother a pin to commemorate the occasion and yes, I did cry like a big ole baby. Congrats honey!

*** Would just like to share, I have turned into THAT mom. You know, the one who brags to anyone and everyone who stands still long enough to hear about my son's accomplishments. So to the cashier at Fred Meyer, my neighbor out playing with his daughter and all the teachers at school ... Thank you for listening, sharing in my pride and joy, and not rolling your eyes at me even though I deserve it.

I am sure this is a question you all ask yourselves on a regular basis. It just feels like yesterday we were working The Collection ( go check out her photos here). The turn out was AMAZING and I had so much fun working in Timi's booth. My mom was able to raise $773 for Walkers for Knockers.

I also was so touched that Karoline from Cherished Vintage stopped by to introduce herself. This is one talented lady that I met through Etsy. I got one of her scarflets and everytime I wear it I get so many compliments.

Since the event I have been busy with my step-father having knee surgery 3 weeks ago and is now in a convalescent care facility getting PT and OT and other T's he may need. My mom just got a nasty flu bug that went through our house a couple weeks ago, so we had to drop off some groceries for her. BB1 just had his Cub Scout Graduation dinner where I put together the slide show of the past 5 years. And the actual ceremony with the pack will be Tuesday night. Getting all the awards and a shortened version of the slide show put together. BB2 has been busy with baseball and had his first game last week that I missed due to the flu bug. And today's game may be rained out.

I am looking forward to spring break starting on Friday with us pulling out the trailer and heading to the beach . I will be cleaning out the trailer and packing this week. Should be nice, even though I haven't even done anything for Easter.

Best Super Bowl Dips Evah

I have been known to lick the dish clean. This stuff is DELICIOUS!

Then my Artichoke dip:

2 cans quartered artichokes
brick of cream cheese
2 cups mayo
2 cups shredded parmesan cheese

Spray a 9x13 casserole dish with olive oil. Turn oven to 375. Put all ingredients except 1 cup of cheese into mixing bowl and mix together until all combined. Put into casserole dish, sprinkle remaining cheese on top and bake for 35-45 minutes until cheese on top is bubbly and browned. Serve with tortilla chips or anything else you want this cheesy goodness. Ahhh, here the angels sing.

I truly have nothing. Been busy trying to beat the house back into shape for the Superbowl since DH won Fantasy Football and we get to host the party. YIPPEE! Some things I have found out about myself during this time:

I have WAY to many cookbooks. Maybe use about 2 of the thousands I have. Ok maybe 100, but when I am lugging them to the bookcase it feels like thousands.

I am addicted to Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, it is my go to when I take a break, which happens to be every other 15 minutes. You figure it out.

Instead of just cleaning, I have decided it is imperative to clean out cabinets and drawers because this is critical in having a successful party. WTF?!

I have about 4 different lists going. Costco list, grocery store list, my daily to-do list, boys chore list, and the honey-do-it-now list. Oh . . . that is 5 lists.

I am sorry for not updating my blog, I just don't feel like I have had anything blog-worthy or when I do, I forget it by the time I come to write about it.

Ok I am off to play BB. Because it is the 15 minutes that I get a break. ;-)

She is so creative and she finds the best junque. Anyway, my mom came over to craft. Overwhelmed

Yes, I am still here. Just been busy trying to finish painting our room, will try to take pictures, just not very good at it. But I've got to if I want to get your input on painting my furniture.

Also been helping my friend Timi with her upcoming sale in March. I have been promoted to her "Booth Manager". Yeah I know it sounds all fancy, but all it really means is I gotta do what she tells me to do while staffing her booth. I am excited for this sale because we haven't had a really good one in this area in a long time and Timi has some great vendors signed up including Momma Madden (my mother) who will be selling her jewelry and accessories for a fundraiser for Walkers for Knockers .

Been busy with Cub Scouts. Pinewood Derby this last weekend, it was fun BB1 placed 2nd in his Den. He also just got his red belt in Tae Kwon Do. BB2 is gearing up to actually try-out this year for baseball. So he has attended a couple baseball functions to get him ready.

I have been reading all your blogs and am so excited and overwhelmed by you talented ladies. There are so many crafts out there I want to try. Just gotta sit down and do them. I just got a Cricut Expression and need to start playing with it. But first: FINISH PAINTING ROOM.

That's really all that has been going on. In the meantime let me leave you with a great recipe I got out of my Clean Eating magazine that was very popular at our holiday dinner and at Cub Scout potluck and SUPER easy:

1 bag frozen shelled edamame beans

1 can corn- drained

1/3 red onion chopped

Mix together in a bowl heat on high in microwave 5-8 minutes.

Add salt and pepper.

Stir again, let reach room temperature. There you have it. Also good cold.

With vacation comes many movies.

Here is what I saw this last week.

I am still trying to determine what the point of this movie was, all I know is it was depressing.

Weird, but entertaining in a no brainer kind of way.

Hate to say it, but this was my favorite out of the whole bunch. Definitely lewd and crude humor.

Yes, I did sit through this for the boys. They enjoyed it and isn't that what really matters?

At the end of this movie, I was the person in the cartoon with a big "?" in a bubble over my head. WTH? This was hubby's choice when he went to the video store, thought it would be a good family movie. Apparently he didn't read the little synopsis:

A post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened.

And lastly,

Where has the time gone? Wasn't it just yesterday we were putting up Halloween decorations and buying Kit Kat candy bags? Oh...just me. Now the New Year is here. I just got done putting out all my Christmas stuff on the 24th.

Speaking of which, my Christmas was wonderful and definitely had a cooking theme to it. I got the Julie/Julia DVD and the Mastering French technique cookbook. Beef Bourguignon here I come! The Pioneer Woman's Cookbook. My much coveted cupcake holder from Crate and Barrel. A darling apron made by my dear friend Mrs. Gothershittogether with the cutest Christmas fabric I was admiring with her one day. And an adorable Cupcake cookie jar from Mrs. Nuckinfuts aka A Girl Named Timi.

My big To-Do's for this year (after putting away before-mentioned Christmas stuff):

1. Paint my bedroom- I have already bought the paint and accoutrement. Now I gotta get it prepped.

2. Lower my cholesterol and blood sugar -My doctor has me on a plan and will be checking back with me in February. I do not want to go on medication so I am going to accomplish this through diet and exercise.

3. Curb spending - My husband's job will be over in March/April and we are unsure of what is next. He has assured me he is not worried, so I am trying to do the same.

4. Laugh more - I am going back to my glass-is-half-full attitude. Being thankful for the things I have and not obsessing over the things I want. I am not going to stew over little petty things.

5. Going with the flow (not be so anal about plans) - This Christmas break we had an impromptu get together with friends when dropping off gifts, and instead of begging off to go finish our to-do list we stayed. Then, the boys and I at the last minute decided to go downtown on the bus and meet up with Dad for lunch and explore. Both events were fun and showed me that sometimes going with the flow is the best way to enjoy life.

Hello friends! Hope you are doing well during this hectic time of year. I have been trying to be a crafting fool since I am finding all sorts of fabulous ideas out in blogland. I have completed 2 of the infamous "Ball" wreaths , as found here at Eddie Ross blog. It really was easy and I love how they turned out. I did one in blue for my shabby chic room and a crimson and grey one of course. There are some other crafts out there that I want to do, like this from Homebody and this from Hope Studios. Any crafts you've been doing or seeing that you want to attempt? Because on top of decorating, cooking, wrapping and shopping we just need to add one more thing.

I was able to go to an open house last night put on by My Sweet Savannah and Mimi Charmante and drool over all their cute stuff. Those ladies are the epitome of creative. I got a darling bag that I can't wait to use. Melaine's house is gorgeous and the kids' rooms are truly amazing. It was a very fun evening. Thanks ladies!

I am off to make a chocolate chip pecan pie for an Ugly Christmas Sweater/Potluck/White Elephant Party. I promise to get many pictures of all the "pretty" sweaters.

As I am sure many of you have heard about the tragic, senseless loss of these 4 officers in Lakewood, WA. Today is their memorial service. I was driving home from the vet's office and saw 8 cop cars packed full of officers heading to their service. Please take a moment to pray for the friends and families of these fallen heroes. Rest in Peace.

Seriously, I am at a loss of what to write. Nothing has been blog-worthy. Oh wait. ..the Apple Cup party was a blast even though my Cougs never showed to the game. WE SCORED ZERO! I mean how does that happen.

Anyway, for the party 2 of my friends made the greatest desserts: Timi made apple pies shaped as apples for Apple Cup. And Mrs. Gotheirshittogether made the best red velvet cupcakes with homemade cream cheese frosting with crimson and gray football candies on top. Truly beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. And she brought it in on this:

It is so nice to have friends that get it and are just as over the top as me. In fact Timi said that the woman in the new Christmas Target commercials is me. Hmmmmm.

By the way the cupcake holder is from Crate and Barrel , hint hint.

NEW MOON

Yes, I did get all caught up in the hype for this movie but not on purpose. My dear friend Michelle, and her daughter, bought me a ticket to go with them to opening night for my birthday. Now normally I wouldn't go because, to be honest, I am wiped out by 11:30. But I LOVED these books and well, who can turn down a fabulous invitation with some great gals. Plus, how exciting to be a part of this night. Off I went at 10:30 to drive a half an hour to meet up with them. I am so happy I did. I didn't have to wait in line, they had wonderful seats, and it was fun to be with a crowd of teenage girls and women who all loved the books. I loved the audience participation, especially when Jacob came out with no shirt, or maybe that was me oohing and awwwing. Hubba Hubba. I am now a proud member of Team Jacob. I think Edward is too pretty. But TMI in the mind of this dirty old lady I feel like when drooling over a 16 year old werewolf. Anyway, a fabulous evening, thanks Michelle and Sarah! And let's not forget the next day at school, when my son told the gaggle of girls around us in the library that his mom went to the movie. Oh, I was too cool for school with this group of 5th grade girls and my son got to be surrounded by them when I told them about the night. Pretty smart, that one, with a huge grin on his face. Yeah he didn't get that play from his dad.

I also wanted to share with you the great craft from Mrs. Gottheirshitstogether and her daughters. As you may remember we like to glamp.Well the last time they went to garage sales they found 2 camping stools. She bought them with the intention of re-purposing them for her daughters and their glamping gear. Look at how stinking cute they are:

My birthday week has just been crazy wonderful! It started with a family celebration dinner on Sunday night. DH and the boys cleaned the house and made my favorite dinner from growing up. Peppered steaks, mashed potatoes and Italian green beans. My MIL brought over this yummy salad with strawberries, spinach and feta and a Quinoa salad that was surprisingly delicious. My mom brought over 2 dozen Lavender cupcakes so we would have extras during the week . I got a beautiful orchid, 2 great vampire books, a gorgeous vintage beaded sweater, a new mixer and some melamine bowls in red. Loved it all!

Tuesday my friend Timi, took me to Bellevue Square to shop and lunch. I had wanted to see the new Vera Bradley store and it did not disappoint. Then to Macy's to drool over all the kitchenware. We went to Nordstrom's and had lunch, which included a yummy grey goose martini. Afterwards to Williams Sonoma, where Timi proceeded to get my present and have it wrapped while we were shopping. AN EBELSKIVER PAN! So trying it out this weekend.

And just when I thought I was done celebrating another year...my dear friend Michelle calls to let me know she has bought me a ticket for the 12:30 showing of New Moon tonight and she and her daughter are taking me. WHEW! Throw in all the well wishes from Facebook & Blogger, some good report cards from the boys and I am one spoiled old lady.

All I want to do is go get this and camp on the couch with tea and stupid tv and magazines galore. Unfortunately we have my sons' friend coming over to spend the night, boxes galore of Halloween stuff to put away, and the boys' cub scout uniforms to get all spiffy for Veteran's Day Assembly at school where they will be carrying in the flag. DH is home for the weekend and then off for another week of hunting so I only have a short window of time to get better. Snuggie take me away.

Both boys home sick today forcing me to stay at home. SO I thought I might share the fun things happening around here.
Tuesday rode down to Sumner with Timi to finalize plans for the Come Junk With Us bus trip on the 24th to Funky Junk Sisters Show and Sumner. This outing is shaping up to be one AWESOME trip. I cannot wait! Timi, the vendors, and shop owners have really outdone themselves to make this a special event. Before we went into town I had the honor to stop at one of my favorite blogger's beautiful homes to pick up some prizes. Tiffany of Shabby Scraps is such a lovely woman and so talented. Anyone who believes every room should have a chandelier is my kind of person. She welcomed us into her farmhouse and gave us a tour of her home. Simply gorgeous! I cannot wait to see her at the show. Next we had lunch at Sorci's Italian Cafe and Enoteca. One word...DELICIOUS. If you are in Sumner stop by there for either the Vodka Gnocci or the roasted pork sandwich and for dessert, the tiramisu.
Ok I am off to check on the boys. Wish me luck that this doesn't last over the weekend as hinted at by BB1's teacher. Yuck!

Halloween in my house is a special event since it is BB1's birthday. Also I have been instructed that my previous Halloween stuff is too cute. Hence all of the skulls. Here is what we have up so far. Yes, I do make my guests drink out of these. Diet Coke or Wine it don't matter.

Fall Foodie Swap

Back in September I participated in a Fall Foodie Swap put on by the fabulous Laura at A Dozen Eggs. I mean seriously, I want to move to Vermont just so I can go to her bakery daily. Anyway I was matched with Amanda, a lovely lady from Arkansas who is the epitome of Southern Hospitality. Look at all the goodies she sent! I was so spoiled. Pumpkin batter, an Akansas Razorbacks magnet, cute Halloween cards and napkins from a local artist in her town.

Cranky pants

Sunday night someone broke into our cars and stole the boys Nintendo DS's. We had them leave the DS's in the car to limit play time on them. I am angry with my husband because he did not lock the car doors even though this is a conversation we have had numerous times. I am relieved they didn't use the garage door openers and break in. Hopefully he will lock doors and NOW clean out the garage so we can park our cars inside. GRRRRRRRR! I will be back tomorrow with my cute swap items and awesome thrift store finds.

Seriously, I do not know why I am having such a hard time blogging. Vegas was a blast! But I did realize I am WAY past the staying out till 4:30 in the morning stage and have had to recuperate all week from our partying ways. We got upgraded to The Hotel at the Mandalay Bay and it was SWEET! Danced our little hearts out with a buck-toothed, white Michael Jackson wanna-be, sparkly glove and all. Laid out all day with the monkey pox by the pool in 100 degree heat. Then stayed up watching a friend of a friend drop $30,000 gambling. CRAZY! He did end up winning $45,000 when he was all done.

Trying to get back into the swing of things here. I have started volunteering at the school and am really enjoying it. Spent this weekend going to a Mariner's game Friday night with my girlfriend after getting a mani (too fun) and spending Saturday downtown with DH enjoying the gorgeous fall weather and our beautiful city. I love this time of year when the air is crisp but the sun is shining.

Forehead Smite!

Yesterday I spent a lovely day with my friend Timi in the quaint town of Sumner, WA. Dummy here forgot to take my camera and capture all the cute stores, friendly shop owners, and all the neat stuff I found. We were scoping out venues and ~~warning~~ letting them know that 20-40 of our closest friends were hopping on a charter bus and hitting the Funky Junk Sister Show early in the morning of Saturday, October 24. Then ~~invading~~ visiting Sumner to shop for the remainder of the day. What a jewel of a town. The shop owners were so welcoming and generous. CANNOT WAIT to go on the junking junket for this event and be a junk queen for a day. I found some cool items and got some neat Halloween decorating ideas that I want to do RIGHT NOW. I have been very bad about updating my blog. Basically this week has been about getting back into the groove of things. Went to BB1's curriculum night on Tuesday and LOVE his teacher who is new to the school this year. He has a very big job in front of him this year but I like his teaching philosophies and I think BB1 is going to have a great year.

Wednesday I actually went to the gym and worked out. I am amazed at how great I have been feeling after the walk. SO empowering. I also filled out the feedback on the walk and feel very controversial in what I am about to share. First I would like to preface, I have lived in the Seattle area 36 of my 40 years. I have heard many times from out of town friends or read on blogs from people that Seattlites are not friendly. Pissed me off to no end, I always thought you are so wrong, blamed it on the people saying it thinking you are the one with the attitude.Well I am so sorry to say I experienced it this last weekend on Capitol Hill and downtown Seattle during our walk. Of course there is always an exception to the rule and the neighborhoods up the hill to Capitol Hill were very encouraging. But for the most part I felt like everyone in those areas were put out by us. I was so disappointed because Capitol Hill is a very diverse neighborhood, very creative , artsy I was so excited to walk through there and see what they had planned for the walkers. NOTHING. Such a bummer because many out of town people walking and you want them to see what a beautiful city Seattle is. But on a positive note the cities of Shoreline, Edmonds, Woodway, Lynnwood, and Everett went beyond welcoming us. One of my favorite cheering stations was the tailgaters grilling little smokie for us. Too cool! Ok, controversy done.

This week I also met up with some of my favorite girlfriends at Frost. Fun to catch up and find out that the gourmet donut shop is coming out with new fall flavors in October. Then I went to the local nursery to find plants for my pots and then met up with DH at Best Buy to purchase a new TV. Ours went T.U. and a girl has got to be able to watch her shows. Can I hear an AMEN to that?!

Lastly, we are starting a game night with our friends and neighbors for once a month and I can't wait. Started last night with Greed and Tripoli and will try something new each time. Should be fun.

My biggest fan, MOM. There every day to not only cheer me on but everyone. She sprayed people with sunscreen, had a coolers filled with ice water to dunk our bandanas, and Vitamin CH to keep us energized. She also ran for lattes on Sunday which made the other walkers terribly jealous. THANK YOU MOM!Getting us lubed up with the SPF. HUBBA HUBBA!

Yeah these Hottie McHottersons were walking in FULL gear with tanks on their backs painted pink. They still had $2200 to raise so they took pictures with all the walkers for donations and last I heard had raised $1100.

DH doesn't know it yet, but he is going to be a firefighter for Halloween.

The community support was AMAZING, esp. through Edmonds, Lynnwood and Everett. The decorated cars driving past with their funky tunes and cute dogs just kept us going.

Just before the 1.6 miles up hill to Volunteer Park. I felt so empowered making it up that hill in the heat. When I reached the top we had gotten separated so when looking for my team I found my 2 girlfriends who had surprised me. I seriously thought I was hallucinating when I first saw them.

The crew was amazing! These people are volunteers and they make sure everything runs smoothly and you are safe. Yeah he stood like this on the corner in front of a biker bar.

Coming in to our final stop.Look at all those people cheering us on. Alot of the local schools had their cheerleaders out for us every day.

I feel great! Moving a little slow on Sunday and basically did nothing on Monday. I only had 3 little blisters. In fact, today I am going to the gym.

Things I will remember for next time:

1. I am so glad we had matching team t-shirts, it was easier to find us in the crowd.

2.Practice using my air mattress before hand. Had a couple mishaps that I don't want to repeat.

3. I NEED to get a small enough camera for the fanny pack. All of these photos were courtesy of my teammates.

4. Bring a needle and matches so I can be MacGyver when dealing with blisters.

5. Take it slow so I can enjoy the kindness of strangers and the beautiful areas we go through.

With all the griping along the way, I am always proud at the end and have a wonderful time. Couldn't imagaine doing it without my team, what an amazing group of women. Our team raised $17,000! The whole 3-Day Event raised $5.5 million.

If I wasn't walking this weekend in the 3-Day I would be joining my friend Timi on her Junk Junket down to Battleground for the final Barn House sale. Those boys are putting on quite a spread for the junket riders. AND there will be door prizes, driving done for you, and some other great stops. It is so wonderful seeing my friend doing something she loves and making it into a business. What a way to open!!! I am so sad I won't be there but I know it will be FUNKTABULOUS! Quite literally. Look what DH and the boys went to pick up at Farmer Brown's house this weekend.Yeah the WSU mobile looks a little weighted down with our new chicken coop. Apparently they got a few stares coming down I-5. It took 3 pretty strong dudes to put this in our dog run/ chicken pen. And the roof had to come off to fit but in the end it did and it fits perfectly. Now when I am typing on the computer or reading all of your blogs I can peek out the window and admire our 4 Plymouth Rock Hens.
We have 4 chickens and average 3-4 eggs a day.

Hi guys! I am still alive, just slacking off during the last few weeks of summer. I got in a 15 and a 10 mile walks a couple weeks back. I also was able to go to my dear friend's 40th birthday. Which was a hoot! Then we had BB2's Camping Slumber Birthday Party. It was one of my favorite parties to date. I will post pictures - pinky promise but right now we are off to 5 days of camping to say good-bye to summer with 15 of our closest friends. I will catch you all up next Monday when I get back. Burnt out

So just got news this last weekend that one more person had to drop from team Walkers for Knockers. We are down to 6 from 9. It is sad because one of those ladies was just shy of her goal. I am gearing up for my back-to-back training walk this weekend of 18 miles on Saturday and 15 on Sunday. Thank goodness my mother has agreed to take the boys down to the the ocean so I can get in the walks while DH is in Alaska. But to tell you the truth . . . I want to just skip it. I am so burnt out on walking. I won't because I need to train but argh I am dreading it. Good news is I have raised all my money and so have 2 other teammates. To help the remaining team, we are now selling raffle tickets for these fabulous items if anyone is interested. $1 a ticket and if you go on-line and donate to Tami, Colleen, or Heather your ticket purchase can be a write off. Let me know so I can mail your tickets to you. The drawing is being held on September 4th.

Saturday after I walked 9 miles for training I went home and got ready for a fun-filled "Girls Day Out" with my mom. First stop...Mill Creek Town Center and Frost in search of the elusive Bacon Maple Bar and Peanut Butter and Jelly Donut. No such luck. But I did get to have the Salted Caramel, which so far is my all time favorite.

From there to Belle Provence to drool and touch all their gorgeous items, check out the new Vera Bradley prints and help mom spend her birthday gift certificate. Then we went to Lady D's Garden of Lavender. If you know me you know I LOVE the flavor of lavender in food. My favorite drink being a Lavender Martini at Scott's Bar and Grill in Edmonds and Lavender Cupcakes from Cupcake Royale in Ballard, just found out they have a blog. Anyway, at her store I got lavender soda, lavender syrup for mimosa's or lavender margaritas, and sugar to rim said drinks. If it's lavender you need. .. she 's got it. I am so excited to make it all. And how many times can I type lavender????

So sad to hear about John Hughs passing yesterday. As a tribute, here is a post from February 2008 visiting the boy of my dreams. Mr. Hughs your movie genius and talent for capturing teen age angst will be missed.

Jake Ryan

Does that name sound familiar? I just got done watching Sixteen Candles last night and I still love love love this movie. Why? I know it is not an academy award winner and it really is silly. Two words: JAKE RYAN. He is the epitome of every girls secret older guy love in high school. It also helps that this movie was set back in my high school days. It makes me nostalgic for the bad fashions and music that were the 80's. And come on Jake Ryan in those Levi 501's still makes my heart swoon. Here is a funny article by Hank Stuever regarding every girl's fantasy of a Jake Ryan pulling up in his red Porsche to sweep you away.

I was a sophomore in high school when that movie came out and I had my own "Jake Ryan". He was a Junior at my high school. He ran cross country, was on crew, dressed so preppy and was just gorgeous. He also WORE 501's (nuff said). We hooked up that summer and dated off and on for the next four years. Can you hear Thompson Twins playing "Hold Me Now" in the background?

Glamping it wasn't

Just for future reference. . .hard to glamp when you don't have hook ups, just saying DH.

Did go to brother's house who is definitely Farmer Brown with his garden and chickens. Came home with these beauties. So last night I made a new recipe that turned out to be delicious, BB2 took 2 servings and DH (meat and potato guy) was also pleasantly surprised.

Here's the recipe for Squash Zucchini Casserole:

1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup chopped onions
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 pounds summer squash (about 6 medium), sliced into thin rounds
2 pounds zucchini (about 6 medium), sliced into thin rounds
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh thyme leaves
3 large eggs
1/4 cup heavy cream

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 by 13-inch baking dish with 1/2 tablespoon butter.
Heat the olive oil and the remaining 1 tablespoon butter in a medium pot over medium-high heat. Add the onions, salt, and black pepper and cook until the onions are soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add the squash and zucchini and cook until tender, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes. Stir in the thyme and remove from the heat. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the vegetables to the prepared baking dish, reserving the cooking liquid.

Combine the eggs and cream in a medium bowl and whisk to blend. Gradually whisk the reserved cooking liquid into the egg mixture. When all the cooking liquid is incorporated, pour the mixture over the vegetables in the baking dish. Using a spoon, gently shift the vegetables around so the egg mixture is evenly distributed. Bake until the mixture sets, about 35 minutes.

HOT!

According to my temperature gadget thing-a-majiggy it is 105 degrees outside. WTF Mother Nature?! One crazy year here with the weather. No A/C and running 12 fans non-stop. Loitering at 7-Eleven to get my $1.49 Iced Coffee and slurpees for the boys just so we can be in the air conditioning. Last night Mr. WSU and I went to the game with the Nuckingfuts and we got interviewed about the heat. Check it out here and listen to me giggle like a goof.

Isn't it beautiful?!

The gift from DH. The girls and I were talking about the crispness and smell of freshly hung laundry and how a clothesline would be wonderful to have. So I came home and told DH how neat it would be to have one of those round clothesline thing-a-ma-jingy's. He didn't think we had room in our yard for one. So I thought the issue was dead. The very next day when running errands DH picked this up for and hooked it up. I love it and it looks so retro. And when I am all done, just put it away.

You can see it is getting alot of use during this hot weather we've been having. LOVE IT!

So next on the WSU To-Do list is preparing for BB2's 9th Birthday. Just finished the invitations. Don't know if you can tell, but that is a tent with the flaps open and a poem saying:

Bring your sleeping bag & swimsuit,

a birthday campout is in store.

We'll swim in the pool, cook over the fire, &

eat lots of s'mores.

Camp WSU celebrating BB2 turning 9.

Little man is so excited. He has already helped to think of activities for the prizes:

Sleeping Bag Relay, Scavenger Hunt and Ladder Toss -the prizes are awesome we found canteens on sale at Walmart , S'more makings, and lanterns.

We are going to set up a couple tents, get out the fire pit, and grill hot dog and hamburgers. Instead of a cake he has decided to have a S'more bar with Hershey bars, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and anything else we can think would be good on a graham cracker (suggestions welcome). Watch Ernest Goes to Camp outside on hubby's new toy and swim in our big blow up pool. Should be a good time.

The following weekend on his actual birthday we are camping and there we are going to try and make S'more cupcakes after he saw this on a Dozen Eggs. Laura is so talented, there is no way ours will be as good looking or yummy - I mean she makes a mean set of delicious sugar cookies. But hey any chance to get to use my butane cooking torch.

Drip, drip, drip

That would be the sound of the sweat running off my body. It is supposed to be crazy hot here in the PNW. Miserable hot! I know you all in the South and in the East are just laughing at us but you see there is no air-conditioning here. I have 12 fans running in the house. Close to 100 degrees on Wednesday. This is just crazy. But it is the perfect weather to enjoy the new present my DH got me.

Between getting ready for BB2's birthday, play dates (BB1 will be mortified), and regular household chores, we've been busy here at the WSU household. But this time it is all enjoyable busy. Since having company on the 4th we've been pretty good about keeping the house clean so having unexpected guests has not been as stressful and in fact FUN!!!

The weather has been super hot (80's and above) so the pool has been a nice retreat and getting used every day. I have been keeping up with my training, just completed a 15 mile walk on Saturday and an 11 mile walk on Sunday and survived with no blisters. I have been dragging the boys with me on my weekly little walks. BB1 did 8 of the 11 miles with me on Sunday.

I just recently took a sewing class for an apron with 3 of my friends. Not my first choice in design but it taught us a lot of techniques. When it is completed I will post a picture. I was surprised I really enjoyed the class despite the fact that my cheap Singer is not working so I am in the market for a new sewing machine. Went and tested the Bernina's at the Needle and I where I took the class. The ladies there are so patient and friendly. Loved the machine, I am thinking I might sew more if I have a quality machine. Any other suggestions?

I am off to walk with the boys since it is cooler today. More tomorrow about what we are cooking up for BB2's birthday, the gift DH just got me that I love love love, and the upcoming happenings in Snohomish that you don't want to miss.

So Pink in a Sea of Blue and The Queen Bee and her Boys have been very patient with me to get this done and it is very late since we are half way through summer, but here goes...

My favorite things about summer:

1 A tall glass of Firefly Sweetened Ice Tea Vodka over ice with a splash of water and simple syrup. Nothing better on a hot day and sipping it with one of my sterling tea straws that I found in an antique shop in Savannah, GA.

2. Playing one-handed games like ladder toss, chuck-o, washers, and bocce ball in the backyard with the kids.

3. Drinking my coffee in the morning out front in our little courtyard listening to the fountain. Ahhh my own slice of heaven.

4, Drive-in movies. Specifically, Puget Park Drive-in located in Everett. Two movies for the price of one. We go to Domino's before-hand get a pizza bring our own popcorn and head to the movie. Only open in the summer time, a really good time.

5. Backyard barbecues with friends and family.

Memories of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett:

1. Any girl from my generation remembers trying to get the Farrah hair. Oh how I wanted that perfect flip that went all the way to the back of the head but all I could achieve with my non-layered hair was the barrel roll along the front. SAD! It was the Rachel hair of the 90's.

2. Michael Jackson - I remember going home from school so excited to watch the World Premiere of Thriller on MTV when MTV actually had music videos. To this day one of my favorite music videos

3. One of my favorite shows growing up along with Love Boat, Laverne and Shirley, and Fantasy Island was Charlie's Angels. I thought it was so cool that those women could be so bad-ass and pretty at the same time.

4. Farrah being kooky on David Letterman and all the fall-out from it. It just made me like her even more, glad to see that everyone can have an off day.

5. The video of Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney "Ebony and Ivory" I liked it. I think it was ironic because years later MJ bought the rights to all the Beatle's songs.

Ladies, thank you for waiting and waiting and waiting on me.

Nothing more I like better than being woken at 7:30 (after a very long night of hearing our fire alarm beep at us) by a Vet assistant telling me my dog is missing. Say what? Ok I roll out of bed to find a pencil and paper to get the person's info. Come downstairs to get some coffee to wake my ass up and there is my dog. GRRRRRR! So now at least I get to catch up on blogs.

I am currently enjoying Flashback Week at The Mrs., she has a wonderful soundtrack that I need to get downloaded for the ipod to take a little trip down memory lane.

Mrs. K is having a miracle give-away of Lumiere Eye Cream. And well after my bad night of sleep my eyes can use all the help they can get.

This morning at 2am I woke up wide-awake with a terrible feeling. I forgot to mention:

Annie's in Snohomish - Annie and Mary, two very lovely and talented women who are hosting a fabulous blogger event on August 8. It was Annie's first time at Farm Chicks and I think her booth looked amazing! She also was kind enough to donate a gift certificate to Walkers for Knockers for our upcoming raffle in September.

Chaps - Held the "Cool Kids" after party that we attended because we were Timi's posse. Gotta love those apron strings. The food was delicious, the atmosphere divine, and the staff courteous and hard-working. Oh and the adult lemonade was YUMMY! A definite go see place when you are in Spokane. A hearty thanks to the boys from Barn House, the Queen of Tarte and Chaps for hosting such a wonderful party.

So after the Farm Chicks weekend, I was all gung-ho to see and do more. Next up:

The Funky Junk Sisters Show. YEE-HAW! Timi and I got up early and trekked down to Puyallap to meet up with the Oregon girls, Laurie Anne from Tinkers Piggies ( it was so awesome to finally meet our blogging sister and her mother)and SHOP SHOP SHOP! Linda and Dixie put on a spectacular event. Not even in the door 2 minutes and I was drooling over a window with a chandelier. GOT IT. Some cute crown dish towels and crown t-shirts in sizes that actually fit normal women. And that was just the first booth. Love all my goodies gals, still trying to find the perfect spot for my window. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, your show is going to be an annual event for us.

How can one describe the Farm Chicks Show. It is an amazing experience, it is so hard to give it the explanation it so deserves. The women running it, Serena and Teri ( hey ladies!), are so down-to-earth, kind and business savvy. I had their book with me with every intention of standing in line to have them sign it. I missed the time to stand in line and meet them and thought well, next year. My mom saw them walking around and said, "go ask them to sign your book". Nah they are busy I don't want to bother them. "Here, give it to me and I will do it." So she did and you know what those 2 ladies turned around and said " It's W-S-U Laura!" I have never felt so cool in my life. I was star-struck. They are so sweet and they chatted with me for a little bit, and had their pictures taken with me (Michele, please forward me the photo). Truly one of the many highlights of the weekend.

I write this little blog as a diary of sorts to help remind me what I am doing. Through this blog and other people I read about this event, the participating vendors, and other bloggers attending. I definitely rode on Timi's apron strings when we went to this event and was amazed at how receptive and welcoming all of the vendors and other bloggers were to me. I definitely read their blogs and was surprised how many actually read mine.

I didn't have a camera for this event ( still looking for a little one that takes decent photos) so I can't show you all the amazing booths and finds of our trip. Here are blogs of some of the amazing vendors and women I feel honored to call friends:

Let's try this again. I am sorry my heart hasn't been into blogging and well I 've been in a funk. It's horrible I am so jealous of my friends that have been so happy lately when all I want to do is crawl into a hole. But a very wise person told me,"you are responsible for your own happiness." So true.

Back to Farm Chicks Weekend. Friday after a wonderful breakfast at the Old European my mom and I headed over to a tiny shoe store in the strip mall where my mom, with the most difficult feet in the world, went earlier. Apparently I pronate and my arch is starting to fall. So he fitted me with some awesome inserts and new shoes. The ugliest shoes, but they have been helping the shoulder, neck pain because you know it is all related. I didn't, but that is what he and my back doc told me. Huh, who knew? After a couple hours there, mom and I jumped into the WSU Mobile and headed over to Couer d'Alene, ID. I have wonderful memories of this town because we headed over annually during the fall at WSU for all of the fraternity and sorority cruises. It was just beautiful and this time I got to enjoy shopping. We met up with Timi and the girls and first hit Mary Janes Farm. Lovely! Then off to the antique stores and finally to the Coeur D'Alene Olive Oil Company. Where we received the best customer service from Janie and I bought some yummy Blood Orange Olive Oil. Delicious on chicken. At that point we were all a little hungry and parched. So off to the Iron Horse for a little cocktail I had back in the day called a "derailer". This little cocktail comes in a bucket with 3 long-ass straws to finish it off. Just as delicious as I remember. Afterwards we hit the Goodwill for some thrifting because nothing better than going to a thrift store in a resort town. My big find, a vintage square copper cake carrier that has a closure. Love it! Have used it often. From there we went back to the hotel to get a good nights rest for Farm Chicks. More later.

I am so behind, where to start. Farmchicks.

This Girls Trip started out with my mother and I leaving bright and early Thursday morning after dropping the boys off for their bus. We started our way over the mountains with "Rules of the Road", driver has to pull over for passenger if there is something they would like to see. My ability to junque comes naturally, my mother knew just about where every thrift store from here to Spokane was and we stopped. at. every. one. Which was no surprise that Timi and her gaggle of girls caught up with us just outside of Ellensburg. Yeah, my car was already looking full but no worries, my mother and I are the masters of packing when it comes to our "treasures". Now see at this point of the story I would be showing you photos of my packed car, my mother and I outside the Ellensburg Goodwill, but my little camera that I take on trips with me is not working. DH just got a fancy schmancy one at Costco but I have to train for a month before I can lug it anywhere. So totally off the subject but if anyone can suggest a good, inexpensive camera that a blogger would love...hook a girl up. Anyway we found a lot of good stuff.

Made it to Spokane and checked into our hotel. The Rodeway Inn. Now this isn't a fancy place (ask Timi what she calls it)but hey the price is right and the couple running it are very sweet and helpful. Plus it is conveniently located to the fairgrounds and it gives me extra money to spend at the show. Mom and I got lost trying to find a restaurant she had been to many years before so we ended up here. Shogun Japanese Steakhouse. We walk in and it is a Bennihana knock-off. Very dark interior with 3 filled tables. Everything else empty and lights off. We tell the hostess dinner for 2 thinking they might have a little table, but oh no she seats us at a big table that seats 10 and Mom and I are at the end. Two raging parties on either side of us. AWKWARD! We order our drinks and dinner and try not to make eye contact with the parties on either side of us and we wait. And we wait . And we wait some more. We get to watch people at the table next to us get seranaded by the entire staff for some celebration while dressed in costume. One of the 3 parties leaves. Then 2 chefs come out ...and proceed to clean the empty tables grill tops. No one comes over to acknowledge us. The second party starts breaking up. My mom grabs the hostess and says we just want our bill for the drinks. So we paid and left. HORRIBLE experience but a good laugh. Again, if I had a camera you would see how empty it was and how weird that we were seated at the end of the table. We left and ended up at IHOP for dinner where we had excellent service and who doesn't like a good pancake?

Just got home from our FABULOUS girls trip across the mountains. We met so MANY amazing women and I cannot wait to read and comment on all their blogs. I am going to bed now but hope to catch you up on our weekend and DH's weekend while I was gone.

I'm sorry, between helping my 4th grader prepare a PowerPoint presentation for class( WTF?!), making a Baseball compilation DVD with music & pictures for the whole team, training for the 3-Day walk, playing Farm Life on Facebook, updating the Walkers for Knockers blog, going on a field trip ( a good story there)and day-to day life, I have not been good about keeping up my blog. I am hoping this summer I will be more motivated to write. But not until the 19th here.

In the meantime, tomorrow I am leaving for Farm Chicks and can't wait!

FARM CHICKS OR BUST

As you may or may not know I am heading over to Spokane the first weekend in June to go to The Farm Chicks Show. It was so much fun last year and this year is promising to be so much more because Timi has met many of the talented, creative women who have booths at the show. There are supposed to be more vendors this year and my mom and I are heading over a day earlier than last year. To add to the fun, one of the bloggers suggested other bloggers make badges for themselves so they would be easy to recognize. I ran over one Monday for crafting at Timi's and this is what we did:

First...did you see the Housewives of NY reunion?! Can I just say Kelly is Cuckoo! Not one word she says makes sense. I want whatever happy pill she is on. Love Bethanny, love Jill. I think they are loyal, they don't put up with crap and can admit if they are wrong. Ramona is grating. I can't stand her voice and she always has to be offensive. As weird and creepy as I think Alex and Simon are, I think they are very much in love. Good for them. And I do think their living room looks like a bordello. The Countess, I think it is sad about how her husband left her. Can't wait for part 2 of the reunion.

I am excited about the Housewives from New Jersey if not for anything but listening to them talk and seeing how they dress. WOW!

Kate and Jon, do you think all the gossip coming out right now has to do with the premiere of the new season of their show or is it a coincidence?Cuz you heard the latest that Kate is now having an affair with the bodyguard. More importantly, why do they have a bodyguard?

Happy Mother's Day belated! I hope you all had a wonderful day. Mine was very relaxing and fun playing Ladder Toss and Chuck-O. I also got to go "Shit Shopping" with a Girl Named Timi. The only problem is when we get together all these grandiose plans seem to happen. You know what I am talking about, you see a cute crafty thing that someone is charging a billion dollars for and you say, " Oh we can make that." Well I have a room full of "we can make that" stuff that we still have yet to make. But that is all going to change.....right Timi !?

Anyway, what I am all excited about is this new series coming out on Soap Network. Yes, I just admitted that occasionally peruse the channel. It is called Southern Belles: Louisville. I cannot wait! Because you know I am secretly a Southern Belle who has been reincarnated to granola-loving, tree-hugging, fleece-wearing, Croc-sporting Pacific Northwest.

I promise I am still alive. I am so sorry for not updating more, it's just I feel like everything I want to blog about is boring and well, like many of you, I am busy being a taxi for the boys. nothing too new here. I am training for the walk and trying to raise my money. I am currently at $1400, and have $900 left to go. This weekend we are having a Bunco for Boobies Fundraising event that should be fun. No big plans for Mother's Day just brunch with the in-laws since my mom left town (cuz that's how she rolls).

The biggest excitement in my life right now is this:

The Vita-mix. Have you seen this thing? It truly is amazing. My kids and I have been making fruit/veggie smoothies everyday because of this thing. In fact I am drinking an orange, banana, blueberry, spinach, celery, and carrot smoothie. I cannot say enough about this machine. In fact imagine me in my best Sham-WOW voice. I was at Costco the other day with Timi and I stepped in and started selling this thing for the demo lady. I love it so much, it might have replaced Vin. Not this Vin:

Today was Little League Day at Safeco Field. Packed our sandwiches and went on our merry way. Bought our peanuts, cracker jacks and red vines on our way in all excited about the beautiful day of baseball ahead of us. The Mariners were playing the A's and it looked like it was going to to be a good game. Found our seats in nosebleed heaven around other parents from the district. Settled in to watch the game.The kids started getting antsy at the top of the 8th inning or as Bb2 calls it "ending". Just hold on kids the game is almost done, or it was until we hit a home run and were tied 4 -4 . We left at the 12th inning, drove 30 minutes home and were able to watch the 14th and 15th inning on tv till the "ending" when the Mariners won. WOW what a game!

I owe you all a huge and hearty thanks for all the good juju thoughts! We raised $2174 from our garage sale. WOW! That is $300 towards the $2300 we need to raise for each of the 7 women that helped this weekend. AMAZING! I was so touched by the donations from people. Our friends and family were fabulous with their junque donations (isn't it always better with a -que), baked goods, and general support. Plus, all the leftover "treasures" are gone. Our team packed that stuff up in record time , threw it in the trailer and took it to a thrift store that takes all her proceeds and donates it to Women's Shelters, and Victims of Domestic Abuse and Rape. So DH almost has his garage back ;-).

Our garage sale is this weekend and MAN do we have a lot of stuff! I have been pricing and organizing and getting ready for this event. I am exhausted and it hasn't even happened yet. Go here to our website to check out the info. So I will continue to be gone . In the meantime have a wonderful weekend and wish us good juju thoughts that we raise at least $1000. Ok off to bed. I will take pictures and I am sure have many stories to tell.

What is that bright yellow orb in the sky? Is it a bird, a plane, superman???? No it's the SUN. Supposed to be 60 today and gorgeous, about time. I am going to do some yardwork out front and I am actually excited about it. CRAZY! Of course that is after taking BB2 in for his first session of vision therapy. Let you all know how that goes.
